BPSA Annual Conference 2014

The European Association for the Philosophy of Sport is holding its 2nd conference, in conjunction with the British Philosophy of Sport Association, and are calling for abstracts. The special theme for this conference is “alternative body practices” concerned with Aesthetics, Naturism, Ecology and Holism towards a new description of Health, Wellness, Hedonism and Awareness. However, other topics in the philosophy of sport will also be welcomed.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Besides the usual individual papers, proposals for panel discussions with a list of no more than 5 participants are also welcome.

Papers must be prepared in English or French. The Programme Committee are very keen to encourage contributors to submit early versions of abstracts or papers for comment and for advice on language issues. We are happy to receive abstract submissions any time from now.

  • Abstract (200-300 words) final submission date: December 1st 2013
  • Accepted abstracts will receive notification: January 15th 2014
  • Required format is MS Word Times New Roman 12pt, single spacing, with indicative bibliography; all to fit on one side of A4

Publication

Final papers may be considered for publication in a range of journals associated with EAPS and its members, in accordance with normal submission guidelines, e.g: Sport, Ethics and Philosophy; Acta Universitatis Carolinae – Kinanthropologica; etc. With SFPS and its members: in accordance with normal submission guidelines, e.g: Corps; Sociétés; Recherches & Education.

Conference Registration and Fees

  • Fees: €130 for EAPS members and for SFPS; €150 for non-members (€10 reduction from above fees for early registration (before March 31st 2011)); €40 full-time student, retired/unwaged member; (€50) non-member
  • EAPS membership costs €15 for 3 years (for the period 1st May 2013- 30th April 2017) or €5 for full-time student, retired & unwaged members.
  • SFPS membership costs €15 for 3 years (for the period 1st May 2013- 30th April 2017) or €5 for full-time student, retired & unwaged members.
  • All fees to be paid in EURO only, at Registration.

Of course, colleagues may wish to arrange their own accommodation, but here are some options:
