Call for Abstracts
The British Philosophy of Sport Association invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 2006 BPSA conference. The conference will take place on 18-20th of May, 2006, at the School of Sport, P.E, and Recreation, UWIC (University of Wales Institute Cardiff) in Cardiff, South Wales.
The conference will offer a unique opportunity for a variety of sports related academics, administrators and policy makers, coaches, journalists and students to increase their knowledge, share experiences, and strengthen connections between individuals and organisations with a philosophical interest in sport.
Abstracts are welcome on any area of philosophy of sport (and related areas such as philosophy of the body; philosophy of health, philosophy of coaching; philosophy of Physical Education), including metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics and ethics.
Equally, submissions from any relevant theoretical approach, including analytic, continental philosophy or critical theory are welcomed too.
Abstracts should be 350-500 words long (including references) and must be received by January 31, 2006. Abstracts can be submitted electronically to Dr Mike McNamee and should be copied to the local organiser Carwyn Jones Preferred submission in MS Word format.
Please send hard copies by fax if e-mail is not available (clearly marked FAO) to:
Mike McNamee, fax: + 44 (0)1792 295769;
Carwyn Jones, fax: +44 (0) 29 2041 6589.
Contributors will be notified about the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts by February 28, 2006.
Further information about the conference programme, location, travel arrangements, etc. will be posted on the BPSA website as it becomes available.
