Call for Abstracts
The British Philosophy of Sport Association invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 2007 BPSA annual conference which will take place on 22-24th March, 2007, in the Department of Philosophy, University of Leeds, UK.
Abstracts are welcome from within any area of philosophy of sport including metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics and ethics and from any relevant theoretical approach, including analytic, continental philosophy or critical theory. Submissions in related areas such as philosophy of the body; philosophy of health, philosophy of coaching; philosophy of Physical Education are also welcomed. The reviewing committee also welcomes suggestions for panels and roundtables. Newcomers to the Association may wish to consult the Events page of the BPSA website to see full details of previous conferences and books of abstracts.
Abstracts should be 350-500 words long (including references) and must be received by December 21st 2006. Abstracts must be submitted electronically to Dr Mike McNamee and should be copied to the local organiser Dr Jim Parry, Dept. of Philosophy, Leeds University. Preferred submission is MS Word.
Contributors will be notified about the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts no later than January 28, 2007. Abstracts will be published in a booklet distributed at the conference and will appear before then on the BPSA website.
The conference will host the official launch of the publication of the association Sport, Ethics and Philosophy, which is published by Routledge from spring 2007. Authors whose work is accepted for the conference are encouraged to submit their papers for review to its Editor: Dr. McNamee.
